I installed 7.1i under Wine, and it seems to work fine. (I've not tried
any hardware writing tools though, I was just using it to browse a
design from a colleague.

I also bent the Linux version into installing, but that was much more
hassle than the windows one! Plus, the GUI toolkit in the Linux version
seemed a bit painful.
