I was thinking in terms of "entries" or "bookmarks".

IMO "entries" / "bookmarks" can appear as many times you want, OTOH
files with identical file names in the same directory seems to be a
problem :)

"Entries" or "bookmarks" are not to be mistaken for links (or symlinks),
for these the above mentioned exclusion seems to apply as well :)

Maybe Newell can add an icon in front of the "entry" as to indicate the
underlying file type.

And maybe even add collapse / expand icons like [-] or [+] ?
