If I try to apply gsymupdate to the letters (or any other symbol)
I get:

$ gsymupdate b_.sym
gEDA/gsymupdate version 0.2
gEDA/gsymupdate comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY; see COPYING for more details
This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it under certain
conditions; please see the COPYING file for more details.

gsymUpdating: b_.sym (backup: b_.sym.old)
system gschlas b_.sym failed: 11 at /usr/local/bin/gsymupdate line 161, <FILE> line 12.

(What is gschlas supposed to do?)
