There are likely bugs in the Tcl support across various distributions. I
know it currently works with RHEL5/Centos5 and Ubuntu as I've tried those.

The VCD file itself only stores binary numbers but that doesn't matter as
gtkwave can convert to other useful formats. If you need to view other
formats in the analyzer you can use the Edit->Data Format menu options to
look at the data in binary, decimal, or whatever.
