Re: gEDA: Trolltech introduce dual licensing for windows with qt4.
I have no time ot continue this senseless discussion about apt-get.
My point is that installing apt-get on non-Debian mcahines is an
additional installation which will turn off many newbies. If you
don't think so, that's fine. Please carry on using apt-get.
Additionally, the original point had to do with managing additional
libraries required to create a Qt version of PCB. While we have been
pointlessly discussing a chick-sh*t micro-point about how apt-get
manages libraries (if you have it already installed), Bill
Wilson has actually implemented (most of the way) a GTK version. Bill
has single-handedly altered the gEDA/PCB landscape for the better!
Everybody else -- me included -- has just stood around talking, but
doing nothing useful. Thank you Bill, for being a hero and doing
something for gEDA rather than just talking about it!
Therefore, if the Qt proponents are serious, they had better crank out
a Qt port of PCB within a few days, or the whole Qt point is dead.
One question, however:

Fine. Please tell me how a Python program can figure out which
distribution it is running on. What command do I issue?
