It is most likely not the correct test (it's been like that forever) if
it is causing a segfault. :-(
valgrind flagged that construct the last time I was chasing the slice bug.
Goes to show you that when valgrind complains about something, most likely
there is something wrong there.
I have filed a bug to track this problem (Bug#1528080).
